LOOKING FOR THE ASCENDANTS OF

 ANDREW GOVAN CAMPBELL

HALF-BROTHER TO ALFRED

He is the half brother of Alfred Sidney Campbell.  Their mothers are sisters (Andrew’s mother is Clara Hunt and Alfred’s mother is Peggy Hunt, who are listed under the enslaved name of Binford on the Mississippi census); however, they purportedly share the same father.  Like many who were enslaved by people who governed this country, a family rumor links us to a US President and one of the signors of the Declaration of Independence.

Andrew Govan Campbell was born December of 1853 in Montgomery County (Carroll Co.), Mississippi.  In 1874 he married Lula Bennett and to this union sixteen children were born.  They are Lennie, (1874) Virgil (1876), John (1878), Alice (1879), Maggie (1882), Connie (1887), Tillman (1885), Charles Clarence (1882), Emma (1888), Dennis (1891), Minnie (1892), Andrew (1894), Lula (1896), Blonze (1897), Claude (1902), and Bessie (1904).

His children migrated from Arkansas to Missouri and Illinois and to other parts of the world.  We would greatly appreciate any information, so please email us: info@alfredsidneycampbell.com

We graciously thank you in advance for your time and effort.
